Egyptian plane lands safely in Medina after smoke alert: An Egyptian plane landed safely, shortly after taking off from Medina Airport in Saudi Arabia because of smoke reported in the pilot cabin.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation said in a press statement that the air control unit at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina received a report at 12: 18 noon on Friday from the pilot of Egypt Air flight No. 640 departing to Cairo.

The message stated that there was smoke inside the cabin, forcing the commander to request a return to Medina airport.

The plane carrying 50 passengers and 10 crew members landed safely, with no injuries reported.
